Dr. Ha Vinh Tho ist als Sohn eines vietnamesischen Diplomaten und einer französischen Mutter in Paris aufgewachsen.
Er unterstützt weltweit Hilfsprojekte, ist mit einer Österreicherin verheiratet und lebt Genf.
Bevor er seine jetzige Aufgabe in Bhutan übernahm studierte er Heileurythmie in Dornach und baute mehrere heilpädagogische Lebensgemeinschaften in verschiedenen Ländern auf.
Anschließend war er Direktor der Ausbildungssektion des Internationalen Roten Kreuzes und arbeitete viele Jahre in den Krisenregionen der Erde.
Seit einigen Jahren leitet und arbeitet er im Auftrag der Regierung im “Gross National Happiness Center (GNH)” in Thimphu, der Hauptstadt Bhutans, an der Umsetzung des Bruttonationalglückes,
Das Wohlergehen der Bürger will der so genannte Gross National Happiness-Index (GNH) messen. Selbst die Regierung des Landes richtet sich bei Entscheidungen nach GNH. Die im Himalaya-Staat Bhutan Anfang der 1970er-Jahre entwickelte Methode findet weltweit immer mehr Befürworter als Alternative zur gängigen Messlatte des Brutto-Inlandsprodukts (BIP).
Dr. Ha Vinh Tho implementiert die Idee des GNH weltweit in Firmen, Schulen und Organisationen.
