Stefan "Stippe" Bartusch ist Techniker, er arbeitet seit 2009 für Sonne International. Er testet, überarbeitet und wartet Pilotanlagen, erhebt Daten, eruiert welche technischen Hilfsmittel gebraucht werden und unterstützt die Bevölkerung. Die Afar-Region im Nordosten Äthiopiens gehört zu den unwirtlichsten Gegenden der Erde. Das Grenzgebiet wird von extremen klimatischen Bedingungen geprägt. Im Sommer steigen die Temperaturen hier auf über 55 Grad Celsius – ein Umfeld, das die Existenz der dort lebenden Menschen zu einem täglichen Überlebenskampf macht. Dieses Video gibt einen Einblick in das Leben der Afar-Bevölkerung und die Herausforderungen, denen sie sich täglich stellen müssen. Zudem werden aktuelle Projekte von Sonne International, die nachhaltige Lösungen für die Region schaffen, aufgezeigt. Dazu gehören: der Aufbau eines Trainingszentrums für Menschen aus den umliegenden Gemeinden und Dörfern, die Schaffung von Anbauflächen zur landwirtschaftlichen Nutzung, der Verkauf von Obst und Gemüse als Einkommensquelle für die lokale Bevölkerung und vieles anderes.
